    Kirk Gibson, Dodger legend, visits Historic Dodgertown, reminisces about the 1988 World Series

    The memories and stories came flooding back.

    Kirk Gibson, who started his Dodger career at Historic Dodgertown, Vero Beach, Florida 30 years ago in preparation for the 1988 season, returned to the iconic training site this weekend. Peter O’Malley, Historic Dodgertown Chairman, welcomed the 1988 National League MVP to the multi-sport training and conference center for a visit. Gibson’s son, Cam, a professional baseball player in the Detroit Tigers organization joined him.

    Presidents’ Day at Historic Dodgertown

    The popular Treasure Coast Presidents’ Day Challenge at Historic Dodgertown is our largest tournament of the year, and if you haven’t booked your team yet, we have a few remaining open spots for your travel ball team.

    Taking place Feb. 17-19, the Presidents’ Day Challenge launches the 2018 youth baseball tournament season. Playing at Historic Dodgertown is a can’t-miss opportunity for all ballplayers, from budding superstars to high school-age teams. Last year nearly 90 teams competed.

    Statement from Chairman Peter O’Malley on the passing of Senichi Hoshino

    Historic Dodgertown offers condolences on the passing of Japanese baseball great Senichi Hoshino.

    Mr. Hoshino was a 2017 Japan Baseball Hall of Fame inductee. A total of 17 Japan Baseball Hall of Famers have trained and/or visited Historic Dodgertown — Vero Beach, Florida.

    Professional Football at Dodgertown?

    #OTD January 2-5, 1988 – The NFL Cleveland Browns train at Dodgertown, Vero Beach, Florida in preparation for postseason play.

    Since the 1970’s, football has been part of Dodgertown’s DNA.

    NFL teams have utilized Dodgertown’s outdoor and indoor facilities, vast meeting space and dining room for team building and to prepare without distraction for regular season or postseason games.

    In 1974 and again in 1976-1984, the New Orleans Saints – led by quarterback Archie Manning – held their preseason training camps at Dodgertown.

    Historic Dodgertown celebrates today, Dec. 30, as the birthday for Sandy Koufax.  Here is what baseball players, managers, writers, and broadcasters have said about him in his career:

    Baseball & Softball Factory bring players from 41 states and Canada for camp at Historic Dodgertown

    VERO BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 27, 2017) —Baseball Factory and Softball Factory’s Winter and Christmas Camps, taking place through Dec. 30 at Historic Dodgertown, boast campers from 41 states and Canada who traveled from as far as Hawaii and British Columbia to receive training and play games, all while under sunny, blue skies in Vero Beach, Florida.

    From Dec. 27-30, more than 150 participants will train with expert coaches and staff, giving the participants maximum attention to improving their skills and confidence.     Historic Dodgertown Celebrates the Birthday of Chairman Peter O'Malley

    Historic Dodgertown celebrates today, Dec. 12, the 80th birthday of Chairman, Peter O’Malley!

    The O’Malley family connection with Historic Dodgertown began in the first season, 1948, as Walter O’Malley, a co-owner of the Dodgers, had approved the establishment of a permanent Spring Training base for the team in Vero Beach, Florida.  In 1952, as a teenager, Peter O’Malley’s first job is to sell Dodgertown souvenirs at a kiosk on the base where his first sale was made from his mother, Kay.

    Historic Dodgertown celebrates today the birthday anniversary of Walter Alston

    Historic Dodgertown celebrates today, Dec. 1, the birthday anniversary of Hall of Fame manager Walter Alston.

    The first time Walter Alston was at Holman Stadium at Historic Dodgertown was at its dedication on March 11, 1953.  He was not yet the Brooklyn Dodger manager, but as the manager of the Montreal Royals, he was assigned to a volunteer role to take tickets at the ballpark.  By November of 1953, he had managed the Montreal Royals to a Little World Series minor league championship that season and was named by the Brooklyn Dodgers to be their manager for the 1954 season....     Chinese National Baseball and Softball Teams announce exhibition games schedule at HDT

    VERO BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2017) —The Chinese Men’s National Baseball Team and the Chinese Women’s National Softball Team, currently training at Historic Dodgertown through Nov. 22, will play a series of exhibition games and fans are welcome to watch the competition.     Women’s Baseball tournament at Historic Dodgertown shows love for the game has no limits

    Participants represent various professional career paths, including the MLB Commissioner’s Office

    VERO BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 8, 2017) — More than 80 women representing five teams traveled to Historic Dodgertown – Vero Beach this past weekend for a Women’s Baseball tournament, and played on the property the same as 60 years of Major League Dodger baseball.

    The women traveled from Toronto, Washington, DC, New England and northern states, and from Florida to participate in the tournament. This is the fourth visit to Historic Dodgertown by this Women’s Baseball tournament group.
