    U.S. Embassy Baseball Exhibit Features Dodgers' 1956 Goodwill Tour to Japan

    Two photographs from the Dodgers’ 1956 Goodwill Tour to Japan will be featured in the United States Embassy’s baseball exhibit, “Pacific Pitch: U.S.-Japan Baseball Diplomacy”, which opened today at the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Library and continues through July. 

    The exhibit, which was curated by the Meridian International Center in Washington, D.C., shows in photographs the longstanding relationship between the two countries dating back to the 1870’s when American teachers and professors introduced baseball to Japan.     #OTD 1948 - Tommy Lasorda strikes out 25 batters

    On this date, May 31, Historic Dodgertown celebrates one of the greatest pitching feats in baseball history when Tom Lasorda struck out 25 Amsterdam Rugmakers in a Canadian-American League game. Theyear was 1948.

    Lasorda, pitching for the Schenectady Blue Jays, an affiliate team of the Philadelphia Phillies, pitched a complete game and also drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 15th inning.  He was only 20 years old but clearly remembers the game as a career highlight.  He fanned one Amsterdam hitter six times.  The 25 strikeouts then set a minor league record for most in...     Happy Birthday, Kirk Gibson!

    Historic Dodgertown celebrates today, May 28, the birthday of #KirkGibson!

    The Dodgers’ Spring Training schedule was barely underway when on March 3, 1988, Gibson refused to play in an exhibition game at Dodgertown. Team pranksters had lined his Dodger cap with black shoe polish, but it was no joke to Gibson. He expressed his frustration to his teammates and let them know in no uncertain terms, he was here to play ball and help the Dodgers win.     Historic Dodgertown’s annual Memorial Day Invitational set to welcome teams from across the state

    VERO BEACH, Fla. (May 25, 2017) — Historic Dodgertown, one of the nation’s most popular tournament destinations, will welcome nearly 50 youth teams and their families this weekend at the annual Memorial Day Invitational, a baseball tournament for youth ages 9 to 14.

    Families from throughout Florida, from as far as Jacksonville to Miami, will travel to Vero Beach for the three-day tournament. Game times are scheduled throughout each day, from 8 a.m. under blue skies to 8 p.m. under the lights. The public is invited to attend and tickets are priced at just $5 per person each day.     FHSAA Softball State Finals at Historic Dodgertown

    VERO BEACH, Fla. (May 16, 2017)  – The top high school softball teams in the State of Florida will converge onto Historic Dodgertown to compete for the Florida State Championship in each of the nine (9) respective classifications.  Regional Finals have concluded around the state to determine which high schools have advanced to the State Softball Finals. This four-day event will include 36 teams competing in semi-final rounds on Wednesday and Friday then championship rounds Thursday and Saturday.

    Ernie Harwell, Brooklyn Dodgers and Detroit Tigers broadcaster, has stadium named in his honor

    VERO BEACH, Fla. (May 9, 2017) - Before Vin Scully served as the third man in the Dodger broadcast booth, Ernie Harwell had the seat for the 1948 and 1949 seasons. A couple of weeks ago, Wayne State University, MI paid tribute to Harwell, who later served as the longtime voice of the Detroit Tigers, by naming their baseball field, “Harwell Field”. Harwell was at Dodgertown – Vero Beach, Florida for Spring Training in 1949.

    As a 15-year-old, Greene was invited to the first MLB EDI camp held at Historic Dodgertown – Vero Beach, Florida

    Florida Junior College Women's Softball Championship Hosted at Historic Dodgertown - Vero Beach, Fl

    VERO BEACH, Fla. (April 27, 2017) — The 2017 Florida Junior College Women’s Softball Championship will be played at Historic Dodgertown beginning Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30. Sixteen teams from across the state will compete for the title, and the top two winners will move on to play in the Junior College World Series next month in St. George, Utah.

    Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League hold 2017 Spring Camp at Historic Dodgertown

    VERO BEACH, Fla. (April 22, 2017) — The Saskatchewan Roughriders are returning to Historic Dodgertown for their  2017 mini-camp from Tuesday, April 25 to Thursday, April 27. The Riders football operations staff, led by Chris Jones, John Murphy and Jeremy O’Day, along with the complete coaching staff will be in attendance to conduct the workouts.

    Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League to hold 2017 Spring Camp at Historic Dodgertown

    VERO BEACH, Fla. (April 4, 2017) — The Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League return to Historic Dodgertown April 10-12 for their 2017 Spring Camp. This marks the Alouettes third visit to Historic Dodgertown for their Spring Camp, having previously come in 2014 and 2015.
